If you’re getting married in Lake George, you’ll want your wedding photos to reflect your unique choice of location. Lake George is known as the Queen of the American Lakes for a reason – for such a popular Adirondack destination, the waters, islands, and mountains still look pristine and wild. If you want to choose your wedding venue with photo opportunities in mind, we asked four local wedding photographers to share some of their favorite locations and photos.

INN AT ERLOWEST

Jeff of J. Foley Photography (who provided the above photo) suggests the Inn at Erlowest as a great venue to choose for beautiful Lake George wedding photos. If you turn in any direction, you’ll be surrounded by perfect backdrops. The stone castle and lakeside terraced lawn make a romantic, unique backdrop for both posed and candid shots. The quintessential Lake George wedding photo, of course, is framed by the lake itself. Couples can pose for pictures on the waterfront, with the Adirondack Mountains (and maybe even a steamboat) in the background

THE SAGAMORE

The Sagamore is on Lake George’s Green Island, which means you’ll be surrounded by beautiful waterfront views. You’ll also have plenty of fun locations to take pictures outside of the sprawling white Victorian-era resort.

“The Inn at Erlowest and The Sagamore are obvious Lake George choices,” says Hannah of Hannah Lux Photography, “but they have that status for a reason. I love those big weddings that sprawl out onto the lawn of the Sagamore on a really hot summer’s evening – not only are the wedding coordinators at those places at the top of their game, but the scenery is to die for.”

THE BOATHOUSE RESTAURANT

Niki of Niki Rossi Photography recommends the The Boathouse Restaurant for great waterfront wedding shots. The docks and grounds provide opportunities for many interesting and distinctly-Lake George photographs. The Boathouse isn’t too far from Lake George Village, so you’ll probably catch a steamboat or two in the background as well.

TOP OF THE WORLD GOLF COURSE

Top of the World Golf Course is a place I love for intimate events/outdoor tent weddings,” says Hannah of Hannah Lux Photography. “You really feel like you’re on top of the world looking out at all the Adirondack Mountains and Lake George – AMAZING for scenic pictures and dramatic couples’ shots.”

If you want your wedding portraits to look as if you’re standing above the Adirondack Mountains, then look no further than the top of French Mountain. The smooth, sweeping greens provide an almost dream-like foreground with the mountains and lake miniaturized in the background. The grounds are also beautiful, with stone walls and a pretty white farmhouse.

BLUE WATER MANOR

J. Foley Photography also recommends Blue Water Manor in Bolton Landing. Blue Water Manor is right on the water, so the photographs from your ceremony will be perfectly framed by the scenery. The grounds also provide some interesting portrait locations, such as the stone steps pictured above. With a stone-and-wood manor, rustic lodges, and docks overlooking a secluded bay, everything about this location will evoke the Adirondacks in your photos.

Don’t forget that as the seasons change, so will your wedding pictures’ backdrops. Whether the lake is frozen and the mountains covered with snow, or the fall foliage is at its peak, or everything is lush and green, you’ll end up with beautiful, natural, and rustic wedding photos in Lake George.
